Hello from a random hotel in the west midlands where I’ve been for a couple of days. There’s fully stocked gym downstairs which I’ve made full use of. On my way back from the gym yesterday, I bumped into a woman at the lift who said the pool next door is very nice and that she used to swim in it every day until a lot of ‘academics’ (not sure what she meant by this) started using it as she didn’t want them to see her in her cossy.
I’m here for a work event with a bunch of other work people, and it didn’t concern me when I bumped into some of them in the gym. But the conversation at the lift made me think about how not everyone would be comfortable with that scenario: the possibility of bumping into one of your colleagues at the gym!
There are a lot of benefits to bodyweight exercises but the main one is that you don’t need anything other than your own body to get a good workout in. You can do it in the privacy of your own home (or hotel room) with zero equipment.
What is bodyweight exercise?
I was also pondering the term ‘bodyweight exercise’ and thought I should make absolutely clear what I mean because it has absolutely nothing to do with weight loss goals. That’s why I prefer the term ‘no equipment workout’.
Bodyweight exercises are very simply exercises that use your own body weight as resistance, rather than external weights or equipment. They can help build strength, improve flexibility, and increase endurance.
