Just because the marathon is a big goal, doesn’t mean you need to overhaul your training immediately. Ramping up too quickly can leave you exhausted or injured before the real work even begins.

Starting marathon training, should be more of an evolution, not a revolution. The best way to train is by building on what you’re already doing, not throwing it all out and starting again.

What does your routine look like right now?

Before you start adding long runs or searching for a new plan, take a look at your current training. Ask yourself:

  • How many times a week am I running?

  • What distances or sessions am I comfortable with?

  • Do I already include long runs, intervals, hills or rest days?

  • How much time do I realistically have for training each week?
