My runners training in Finsbury Park

It’s been more than two years since I left London, but I still get emails from people asking if my running groups are coming back. There are lots of running clubs, crews and groups in London - more and more by the week - and yet there are a lot of people who want to start running but haven’t found a place that feels right for them.

Why? Because many of these groups are letting down beginner runners. Newbies just don’t feel confident turning up to sessions. Of course I should caveat this with *not all running clubs* because it’s not all clubs. But if your club struggles to attract new members, particularly beginner runners as members, and if you’d really like to get those people turning up to sessions, read on.

And if you’re a runner who would like to join a club or group but doesn’t feel like a ‘proper’ runner or a fast enough runner, then read on too.
