Despite what you might see on Instagram, you don’t need overly complicated strength training moves or to always be changing your routines to get stronger. Fitness influencers are in the business of always creating content and their likes depend on constantly generating something new. Your muscles, however, are happy to respond to the same key moves a couple of times per week. You just need to add a bit of weight when they start to find it easy.

By all means, take inspiration from what you see other do online or in the gym, but also know that you don’t need to be doing something new or fancy all the time for your workouts to be effective.

If you want to mix up your training, I’ve already shared a post on creating your own circuit routine. But if you just want something simple to follow, below is a 20 minute routine using only dumbbells that you can lengthen as you find more time or want to make harder.
