You did so well!! I do sometimes think that to run a 3:30 marathon you need to be in 3:20 shape. It’s bloody hard and we underestimate how fit we once were. And still could be! You have inspired me to believe in myself again. Xx
I think you are amazing!! You give inspiration to many people and whilst you are understandably feeling disappointed please know that lots of people are very proud of you. That is still an incredible time!! 🤩👏🙌🥰🥇
So sorry you didn't get the time you wanted Laura. It sounds like it was absolutely vile conditions so to get so close to your goal time and feel so strong is an incredible achievement!
Good for you for persevering. I'm sure it feels like a major disappointment, but that is still such an impressive time, and the conditions sound truly awful. I'm still trying to get close to my pre-having-a-child 5k and 10k times...
I'm sure if the conditions were better you would have run your 3:30! You can do all the preparation but you can't change the weather unfortunately.
I cried for the first time after a race when I finished London. Not from disappointment. I was more disappointed with a much quicker time the first time I ran London and I didn't cry! I just seem to be a lot more emotional in my old age.
I'm already thinking about what I would do differently next time, before reminding myself there will not be a next time.
Do you think you might try again at another race? You have the fitness and you are not injured (neither am I according to my osteopath, but my body has set some very clear limits on what I can and cannot do with it)
Congratulations Laura - I do know this isn’t the point but I had perfect conditions last year and did it nearly 2 hours longer than you! That wind though is a b-stard! Very well done 👏👏👏

So sorry that you didn’t get the time you wanted - your writing and insta has really helped me when I missed out on my goal time

Laura I'm so sorry to hear you were so disappointed. You are my hero

Sounds like bloody awful conditions, I hope you will not feel too down & will be properly proud of yourself soon for the achievement!

It was vile out there. And weather starts playing in more with age. Soggy trainers and weaving about and wind to swear at.
You BQ'd (a big thing in this house is my husband's quest for a second entry). You GFA for London. I'm in awe.
